Stabilizing Pakistan: The Importance of Religious Foundations
Main Article Content
Abstract
ABSTRACT While discussing the common perception and reasons offered to explain instability of Pakistan, this essay recommends a viable solution for Pakistan’s stability within the religious spirit and sentiments of its people. The main argument of this paper is, therefore, distinct from those mostly written about the instability of Pakistan in the academic circles and disseminated worldwide through print and electronic media. Since it is a theological document, it does not condemn the views of others but theorizes a stable future for Pakistan by entrusting the Qur'Än and the Sunnah as two primary sources concurrent with some secondary literature. The paper assumes that the negative perception about Pakistan cannot be changed unless the domestic turmoil and hostilities in the social, economic and political life of the people come to an end and until the adversities and uncertainties caused by the war on terror, are not removed. Since, the creation of Pakistan was based on the fundamentals of Islam, the only possible solution to overcome this situation lies in the adherence and establishment of the religious foundations upon which this country was created by the Muslims of the sub-continent.
